Project Description:
3-5pm on Wednesday, October 19th Building Educated Leaders for Life (BELL), believes in the tremendous potential of every child, and therefore recognizes them as scholars. We exist to transform the academic achievements, self-confidence, and life trajectories of children living in under-resourced, urban communities. The BELL After School Program contains 50 minutes of literacy instruction and 50 minutes of math instruction. You can join us for the day as a Reading Buddy! During the literacy instruction period, you will pair with small groups of K-5 grade scholars to read to them, with them, and help them respond to the text. This helps scholars develop their critical reasoning and language skills. Outside mentors are extremely important for BELL scholars as they learn to develop relationships with the community and are exposed to positive role models.
